Interests and Research
Class of 2007
Major: Psychology with honors
I'm originally from Colorado,
just west of Aspen, and loved my
four years at the University of Chicago.
I wasn't too involved in campus clubs, but this past year I served on the
executive board of the Harris Park Advisory Council in Woodlawn. In terms
of research, my honors project examined how people integrate discrepant sources
of visual and haptic information when they are either aware or unaware of such
a discrepancy. I also worked in the Huttenlocher and Levine labs in the
Center for Early Childhood Research from February 2005 to March of 2007.
During that time most of the projects I was involved in focused on spatial
skills in toddlers and pre-schoolers. One of our studies revealed a sex
difference in toddlers with respect to geometric and landmark information,
which sparked my greater interest in cognitive sex differences.
Potential
As of June 2007, I haven't finalized my post-graduation job plans, but I intend
to work in a lab for a few years before applying to graduate school. I
think I'd like to pursue a degree in Cognitive Developmental Neuroscience but
I'd like to explore some options first and find a good match for my interests
before committing to a PhD program.
